Great News for Greywater!

Diagram illustrating how residential graywater can irrigate plants.

The Goleta Water District is excited to announce that customers in the unincorporated Goleta Valley (the area outside the city limits of Goleta and Santa Barbara) can now pipe greywater from their bathroom sinks, showers, and tubs onto their landscaping without having to apply for a building permit, get an inspection or pay fees. This makes them among the first in the state to be able to do so. You do still need to meet the plumbing code, but greywater systems are an eligible expense under the Smart Landscape Rebate Program (SLRP). Contact the District at (805) 964-6761, or visit the SLRP page on the website for more information.

From shower to flowers, save water and money with a greywater system!
