Winter Storm Emergency

The winter storm that hit Southern Santa Barbara County on Monday, January 8th and Tuesday, January 9th has significantly impacted the community of Montecito, with several fatalities and injuries confirmed. As emergency responders continue to assess the damage, areas of Santa Barbara, Montecito, and Carpinteria remain under mandatory and voluntary evacuation warnings Tuesday morning. All of the Goleta Water District’s water treatment and distribution systems are operating normally and have not been impacted by the rainstorms. Water quality continues to meet all primary drinking water standards.  

The District is actively coordinating with a variety of emergency management agencies and collaborating with South Coast water providers including the Cachuma Operation and Maintenance Board (COMB), County of Santa Barbara, City of Santa Barbara, Montecito Water District and Carpinteria Valley Water District to maximize all water resources and water availability, and to ensure the reliability of the regional water system.
