Flushing Program – July 1-3, 2025

The Goleta Water District (District) will be doing maintenance in the La Riata zone of the distribution system that will involve flushing water at high velocity through District fire hydrants. Flushing is essential to the ongoing maintenance of the District water system by removing sediment and mineral deposits that have accumulated in the pipes over time. Flushing helps maintain consistency throughout the distribution system, ensuring high quality water is delivered throughout the District.

How Long Will it Take?

Flushing will occur over two overnight periods. Flushing is scheduled to take place Tuesday evening, July 1, from 8 PM to 5 AM Wednesday morning, and Wednesday evening, July 2, from 8 PM to 5 AM Thursday morning.

What Can I Expect?

Flushing of the water system may cause temporary fluctuations in customer water pressure, or a temporary discoloration of the water. During flushing operations, sediment can be stirred up and discolor water so please avoid running laundry, dishwashers or using water when possible. However, District customers are assured that water remains safe to drink and use for landscaping or other purposes. If discoloration of the water occurs, please wait an hour then turn on your faucets for five minutes. If water does not clear, call the District at (805) 964-6761 for further assistance.
