Goleta Water District customers have demonstrated a long-standing commitment to water conservation.  However, the severe drought conditions statewide are impacting local water supplies and will require the community to go above and beyond current conservation efforts to extend supplies into the future if drought conditions persist.

On April 9, 2019, the District Board of Directors lowered the Water Shortage Emergency from a Stage III to a Stage I.  With the change to Stage I, restrictions on watering days and times have been rescinded and conservation is voluntary.  However, prohibitions against wasting water remain in effect, and leaks must still be fixed within 24 hours.  While conservation is voluntary, after nearly eight years of drought, it will be some time before the District’s water supplies return to normal, so it is very important that all of us continue to use water wisely.

Using water wisely outdoors and indoors will help to stretch our water supplies even further.  Using water wisely does not require going without.  Rather, it means using water more efficiently so that you get the same benefits with less water.  We are here to help!
