How do I sign up for water service in Goleta?

Get Started Online – The District’s Open a New Account web page provides information and links to a convenient online form to get the process started. Click here for the Open a New Account online form. (If you are a current customer and would like to close an account click here).

Schedule – If your move-in/move-out date is earlier than 5 days out, please contact the District during business hours at customerservice@goletawater.com or by telephone at (805) 964-6761 at least 48 hours in advance to schedule move-in/move-out water service.  (Customer Service is closed on weekends).

Deposit Required – A security deposit will be required before water service can start. Please have a payment method ready (echeck or credit card) when you call. If signing up online, you will be contacted by a Customer Service representative with a deposit quote and for payment of the deposit.

Initiation Fee – There is a $35.25 initiation fee for ALL new accounts (for service starting on July 1, 2023 and after, the initiation fee will be $37.00).

Customer Service – The District’s Customer Service staff is available Monday through Friday from 9 am to 4 pm to assist with move-in/move-out and to answer water service questions.

The District's WaterSmart Portal

Wait! Before you go, know that once service is established the WaterSmart Portal allows you to make changes to your account directly.

When a new account has been activated, customers can take advantage of the the District’s online customer service and payment portal which features enhanced customer service tools, conservation tips, and customized alerts. Additionally, customers can make a secured online payment using a debit or credit card or an E-payment via checking account. 

To get started on the portal, you will need your Goleta Water District account number and the ZIP Code of your service address. You will also need to provide an email address of your choosing.
